 Burt graduated with an AA degree in Business Administration from Rock Valley College in 1974 and a BS degree in Business Administration from Rockford College in 1991. He received his Associates in Underwriting designation in 1998.

Burt spent 12 years at Woodward Governor Company, two years at Barber-Colman Company, and six years as a soft drink distributor before beginning his insurance career. He was employed by American Mutual for eight years and has been with Williams-Manny, Inc. since January of 1989.

Burt is involved in many industry and community organizations, including: Member and Past President of Independent Insurance Agents, Past President of the Board of Barbara Olson Center of Hope, Member of Freeport Noon Rotary Club, and active in the Northwestern Illinois United Way. Burt is also an active member at crossroads community church in Freeport.

A native of Rockford, Burt moved to Freeport in 1996. He and his wife Phyllis, have been married 37 years, with two grown sons and one grandson. He enjoys many sporting and outdoor activities, especially fishing, golf and travel.
